Changing scenario of future politics and election campaign

Future politics in India

in the last several decades everything in the world has changed, the methods of fighting the war have changed, the way of working has changed, the way of travel has changed but the way of campaigning among the people has not changed. But now for the first time in history, this method of mass democracy is also going to change forever.
After Corona virus it would be almost impossible to call millions of people in rallies. But maybe this time a new rule of social distancing will be added to the model code of conduct to be applied in elections.
There is no cure for corona virus but the best way to avoid it. Social distancing means maintaining social distance from each other. Different scientific researches all over the world say that we will have to maintain this distance for a long time to come. That is, this virus will change all our social parameters forever.
Man is a social animal and he likes to socialize. Do people feel more organized when they are close to each other? The same power of organization is also the basis of politics because in a democratic country only the people elect their representatives. In order to reach this public, political parties do big election rallies, gather crowds, campaign from house to house and under this process the parties’ base is strengthened.

Everything is not locked down – COVID-19

But will the political parties be able to use this manpower in a similar way after the corona virus? Will millions be able to go to rallies again to hear a leader’s speech? Will activists of political parties be able to campaign from house to house and the biggest question is that after the corona virus, 90 crore voters of India will be able to elect their representative in long lines as before?

Or will the virus change the traditional way of politics forever in a democratic country like India?
we would like to discuss some apprehension and impact this can change future politics also.

But we start with a rally of Namaste Trump rally held at Motera Stadium, Gujarat, about 3 months ago. The rally was organized to welcome US President Donald Trump and about 1.5 million people attended this rally. US President Donald Trump also admitted that he had never seen such a crowd of people together in his life.
When Trump returned from India and organized an election rally in his country, he said that I saw lakhs of people in India together in one rally, after which it is not easy to see the crowd of 15-20 thousand.

Trump was fortunate to have the opportunity to address such a big rally in his lifetime, because after the corona virus, hardly any people will be able to join a rally together. Elections are to be held in the US by the end of this year. The number of voters in America is around 16 crores. While at the end of this year and early next year, India also has assembly elections in 6 different states.
These states are Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Puducherry. About 25 crore voters will participate in these elections. This is about 78 percent of the total population of America.

The new rule of social distancing in the code of conduct!
Now reaching these crores of voters will not be easy for any political party in India. After Coronavirus it would be almost impossible to call millions of people in rallies. In the months of September and October this year, elections can be held in Bihar where the number of voters is around 7 crore.

But maybe this time, a new rule of social distancing will be added to the model code of conduct to be applied in elections, under which either rallies, road shows and street meetings will not be possible or they will strictly follow the rules of social distancing. Have to follow
For the first time in the history of 70 years in the world’s largest democracy India and perhaps for the first time in the history of America’s oldest democracy, 124 years of America, leaders will have to adopt other options other than rallies and road shows. To understand why we are saying this, you have to walk in history
For William McKinley, who became president in America in 1897, it is said that he started to conduct mass meetings in modern history during his election campaign.

After this William Gladstone became the Prime Minister of Britain in 1892. It is said that in modern history, it was he who started giving public speeches during election campaign and after this, India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru held an election rally in Punjab during 1951-52. A huge crowd was seen in these three rallies.
During the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2019, Prime Minister Modi had about 142 election rallies, for this he had traveled about one and a half lakh kilometers and during this time, Prime Minister Modi directly addressed about 1.5 crore people through his rallies. In 2014, its scale was bigger. 2014 election campaign.
The biggest election campaign in modern history. In which Prime Minister Modi alone addressed about 5 thousand 827 rallies, programs, 3D rallies and programs like tea discussion. But the year 2020 may prove to be the year to change all these practices.
Due to the Corona virus, now the leaders will also abstain from going in the middle of the crowd and people may not want to risk their lives in the name of listening to the speech of the leaders. However, countries like South Korea conducted general elections among the corona virus. But the number of voters in South Korea is 450 million. Which means nearly half the number of voters in Bihar

Surprisingly, the total population of South Korea is about 125 million. That is, about 80 percent of the population of South Korea has the right to vote. All polling booths were sanitized before voting in South Korea, the body temperature of the voters was checked, and those with symptoms of corona virus were sent directly for the test after casting their vote?
The Election Commission of India is also analyzing the model of South Korea. But still it will not be easy to follow social distancing from crores of voters in India. So the question is what can be done then.

Its only option is that the way you shop online and make home delivery of goods. In the same way, home delivery of election campaign should also be made. For this, the help of Artificial Intelligence, online campaign and digital technology will be taken. Digital technology has increased a lot during the election campaign in the last few years. But now the election campaign will have to be completely handed over to these technologies.
Data was also used extensively in the election campaign of Donald Trump in 2016. And Cambridge Analytica, a British company, was also accused of using crores of voters’ data to influence them. In the UK general elections in 2017 also, the Labor Party tried to find the trend of voters with the help of technology.

Even now political parties of the world are using Facebook’s Look a Like service. Through this service, parties can find out those future voters. Whose views are similar to those who support the party. In India, political parties will have to use the data of the voters and it is possible that these voters will be called vote data in future. That is, people whose data can be identified.
Apart from this, artificial intelligence can also be used tremendously in future election campaign. All the digital devices you use today, they are able to tell a lot about your personality. Your location, your thoughts, your shopping habits and even your health can be easily ascertained.

Suppose you are wearing a smartwatch or a fitness band is tied in your hand and during this time you have been listening to the speech of a leader, then this smartwatch or fitness band will be able to find the speech of that leader. Artificial Intelligence will be able to read human emotions and maybe AI will replace the star campaigners in future.
There will not be any need to hold rallies for the election campaign, because all the publicity material can be made available on your mobile phone and for this you do not even need to stand in a big field, hungry in the hot sun. Now political parties have also started to believe that voters make their mind to vote, not in the living room of the house, but by looking at their mobile phones. That is, your mobile phone will become the arena of election rallies.
A Facebook Like is also able to tell where the trend of voters is. It could also be that local leaders, instead of coming to your house and asking for votes, ask for votes through a chatbot on the Internet. Companies providing online services use chat boats. With a chatbot, you can ask your question and the robot answers your questions based on machine learning.
And perhaps even the most important phase of this whole process will have to be completed online. That is, people will not need to go out of the house and put in lines to cast their votes, people will be able to do this online with the help of a mobile phone application. AI will be able to recognize your face and through this, you will be made to vote online.

That is, in the coming time, election rallies and roadshows will become a thing of the past. But not only the election methods will change, but the election issues are also going to change. The manifestos of the parties will also be made keeping in mind the post-corona virus conditions.
It is possible that health becomes the biggest issue in the manifesto. In the manifesto, the parties will have to tell what will they do for the public in the event of an outbreak? What plan do they have for providing health services to maximum people?
It is also possible that local leaders emerge more strongly after the coronavirus. Because the needs and problems of the people of their area will be known to the local leaders in the best way. But if the election campaign is limited, then new leaders can be hurt because the people do not like to bet on new people in times of crisis.
